ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Prime Minister Imran Khan has ordered Chief Minister Usman Buzdar to purge the Punjab police of officials having criminal record. The prime minister has ordered the chief minister to expedite the scrutiny process. Earlier, the chief minister had sought six months to complete the scrutiny. Sources said that the scrutiny of officials having criminal record will be conducted on the pattern of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. On the other hand, a new standard operating procedures (SOPs) has been issued for the Punjab police. As per the SOPs, the police officials have been directed to fulfill all legal requirements before a raid or an operation. The SOPs letter has been sent to all DPOs and SPOs. “There should be no loss of life during the operation. No such act will be tolerated in future,” the SOP read. Meanwhile, the forensic lab has conveyed its reservations to the joint investigation team. Sources said that the bullet shells have been sent to the forensic laboratory. However, weapons used in the incident have not been shifted to the laboratory.
