December 12, 2018
ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Taking notice Prime Minister Imran Khan ordered inquiry against the managing directors of SNGPL SSGC on the shortage of gas in the country. Imran Khan chaired a session on the shortage of gas in the country and directed to further integrate demand and supply of gas to avoid any crisis in future. During the session, Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Ghulam Sarwar Khan briefed the prime minister that SNGPL and SSGC are responsible for current gas crisis in the country. “The SNGPL and SSGC hid information from the government regarding fault in some of gas compressors,” he added. He said the companies also demonstrated negligence and incompetence in the estimate of gas demand during December. Taking notice of negligence on part of SNGPL and SSGC for withholding information regarding fault gas compressors, the Prime Minister ordered inquiry against Managing Directors of both the organizations and directed the Petroleum Minister to submit detailed report in next 72 hours. PM Khan was apprised that eight cargo ships carrying RLNG will reach Pakistan as per schedule and efforts have been expedited to restore domestic gas production. He was told that despite reduction in local gas production and fault in gas compressors, it has been maintained that domestic gas consumers are not affected. He, however, said CNG and captive plants of some general industries are facing difficulties.
