ISLAMABAD (92 News) Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday directed the Ministry of National Health Services to upgrade healthcare institutions run by the federal government and turn Islamabad into a model for healthcare facilities across the country.
According to a press release from the PM's Office, Shehbaz Sharif ordered the ministry to speed up work on the Jinnah Medical Complex and Research Centre, ensuring timely procurement of medical equipment through expert-supervised processes and third-party audits of construction and equipment.
The PM ordered to initiate the process for approving the charter for the university associated with the Jinnah Medical Complex.
During the briefing on the healthcare facilities in Islamabad, it was revealed that the Jinnah Medical Complex had been registered as a company under Section 42 of the Companies Act.
The steering committee overseeing the project has already approved its master plan. Additionally, the recruitment process for the Project Management Unit and Project Implementation Unit of the complex is currently underway.
Federal Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal, Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Khan Cheema, Federal Minister for Law and Justice Azam Nazeer Tarar, Prime Minister’s Coordinator for National Health Dr. Malik Mukhtar Ahmed, and other senior officials attended the meeting.
