PM Shehbaz Sharif, Hamza Shehbaz acquitted in money laundering case

LAHORE (92 News) - The Special Central Court acquitted Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and his son Hamza Shehbaz in the money laundering case on Wednesday.

Earlier today, the court had reserved the verdict after the completion of the arguments by Amjad Pervez, counsel for Shehbaz Sharif.

The court ruled that no link of the 'benami' accounts could be established with Shehbaz Sharif and Hamza Shehbaz. "The FIA challan carries insufficient evidence. Trying of the accused will be the wastage of time," it observed.

On Tuesday, the court had ordered the lawyers to complete the arguments on their pleas for acquittal.

The FIA told court that they have no evidence of direct withdrawal and depositing of money from the account of Shehbaz Sharif and Hamza Shehbaz.
