PM Shehbaz Sharif lauds services of outgoing COAS for defence, national interests

ISLAMABAD (92 News) - The outgoing Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa paid a farewell call on Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif at PM House on Monday.

During the meeting, the prime minister lauded the services of the COAS for defence and the national interests. "COAS Qamar Bajwa rendered exemplary services in getting the country of the FATF's grey list as well as floods and the Covid-19 epidemic," he maintained.

The prime minister said that the Pak Army under the leadership of COAS Qamar Bajwa played the role bravely to crush terrorism. "The COAS also played a key role in making the defence of the country impregnable. He led the Pak Army during the difficult phase of the history," he added.

PM Shehbaz Sharif said that Gen Qamar Bajwa's leadership role set the direction in dealing with security challenges. He also lauded the role of the COAS with regard importance of geo-economics. "To make Pakistan an economic power, all the political forces will have to show collective wisdom by signing the Charter of Economy," he added.

COAS Qamar Bajwa thanked the prime minister for cooperating with him in dispensing official matters.

PM Shehbaz Sharif also hosted a luncheon in honour of the retiring COAS Gen Qamar Bajwa.
