ISLAMABAD (92 News) - Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday ordered a fair probe into the import of wheat in the caretaker government.
He passed the order during a meeting with Cabinet Secretary Kamran Ali Afzal. He ordered the secretary to compile recommendations in the light of the record and documents and submit the final report by Monday.
He said that the responsible people should be traced. The committee will review the report despite today.
On the other hand, startling revelations have been made in the investions into the wheat import scandal. Accordign to sources, the country had stock of 113,529 metric tons in the government of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, but the government imported 600,000 metric tons of wheat.
The soures said that the government continued the import of wheat in the light of the decisions made by the caretaker government. "Former secretary Capt (retd) Asif Mahmood kept the prime minister ignorant of the facts," they revealed.
