PM Shehbaz Sharif reaches Dushanbe on two-day official visit, calls on Tajik counterpart

DUSHANBE, Tajikistan (92 News) - Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday arrived at Dushanbe Airport for his two-day official visit of Tajikistan.

Tajik Prime Minister Qahir Rasulzada, Tajik Minister for Energy and Water Resources Dalir Juma, Tajik Deputy Foreign Minister Farrukh Sharifzada, Dushanbe Mayor Jamshed Tabarzada and Tajik Ambassador to Pakistan Yousaf Sharifzada, Pakistani Ambassador to Tajikistan Muhammad Saeed Sarwar and senior government and diplomatic officials welcomed the prime minister at Dushanbe Airport.

Tajik Prime Minister Qahir Rasoolzada held a meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif at Dushanbe Airport.

Meanwhile, PM Shehbaz Sharif visited the memorial of Ismail Samani in Dushanbe. The prime minister placed a floral wreath at Ismail Samani's memorial. 

Ismail Samani is a historical figure of Central Asia and a national hero of Tajikistan who ruled Tajikistan and Khorasan region in the 9th and 10th centuries and led the Tajik nation to the path of historic development.

The prime minister is accompanied by a delegation comprising Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Information and Broadcasting Minister Attaullah Tarar and Special Assistant to PM Tariq Fatemi.

During the visit, the prime minister will meet with Tajik President Emomali Rahmon besides attending a signing ceremony of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) between Pakistan and Tajikistan to strengthen bilateral cooperation in varying sectors.

This will follow a joint press stakeout by Prime Minister Shehbaz and President Emomali Rahmon. He will also lay a wreath at the monument of the national hero of Tajikistan Ismail Somoni. The Tajik president and prime minister will also host a dinner reception in honor of Prime Minister Shehbaz at the Qasr-e-Navruz.
