PM summons meeting of party leaders over ministers’ controversial statements

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan has summoned a meeting of party leaders and spokespersons today on the issue of controversial statements of the ministers. According to sources, meeting will discuss issue of questions from spokespersons regarding infighting between party leaders and internal affairs of the party. The premier will also provide party policy guidelines to party leaders and spokespersons. The spokesperson will be briefed about six month ultimatum given to the cabinet members. The meeting will also be briefed on the coronavirus situation, government measures to curb the spread of the novel virus, political and economic situation in the country. Earlier, Fawad Chaudhry spoke out against his own government, saying that the people’s expectations were high but the government made shortcomings. In an interview with American TV channel, the minister claimed that internal rifts of PTI had harmed both the party and the government. “The prime minister has given five and a half months to the ministers to perform.” Fawad Chaudhry said that Jahangir Tareen was behind sacking of Asad Umar as the finance minister. He also claimed that the differences between Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Jahangir Tareen weakened the party and their failure to settle their issues resulted in bureaucracy taking important roles. The minister further said the people have high expectations from Imran Khan and PTI. “They did not elect Imran Khan for ordinary tasks but he has been chosen to reform the entire system,” he added.
