PM unveils development formula to overcome financial crisis

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Revealing the secrets of development plans, Prime Minister Imran Khan said on Friday that they will have to quit the policy of relying on others. Addressing the concluding session of the two-day Envoys Conference on Economic Diplomacy, the prime minister said that the nation needs to change its mindset of depending on others and make coordinated national efforts to convert the current challenges at different fronts into opportunities. Imran Khan said that the previous rulers of mindset have damaged the country through foreign debts. He said that since a fraudulent mindset had caused huge loss to it, adding that it needed to change mindset for overcoming the current financial crisis. The premier has also directed the foreign office and envoys posted abroad to rise to the occasion and promote soft image of Pakistan abroad through proactive economic diplomacy. “The need for eliminating hurdles in the way of foreign investment in the country,” he stressed. PM Khan appreciated the Foreign Ministry for organising the conference and said a nation rises only when it starts believing. He urged envoys to play their role in checking money laundering as the government is committed to eliminate this menace. The prime minister vowed that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government would take biggest action against money laundering in the history of the country. He also said that all actions of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) are in Pakistan’s interest, adding that this international institution wants an end to money laundering and armed groups. Imran Khan warned that those involved in the smuggling of dollars should start counting their days as those involved in money laundering won’t be spared. PM Imran regretted that our elites have ditched the country at international level for their own vested interest. He said past rulers projected themselves as progressive and painted rest of the nation as extremist, causing an enormous damage to the national image. “We are mocked when we speak of national honour. Where Pakistan stands today, I believe that this is a great opportunity for us.” He said Pakistani embassies abroad should extend every possible assistance and cooperation to Pakistani workers and diaspora convincing them to invest in their home country. The prime minister said that the need for dynamic efforts to enhance exports and Pakistani envoys should explore new avenues like Africa and Latin America for Pakistani products. He said Pakistan is a fertile territory for investment making it the most attractive place for business. “We won many big matches in 1980s but we were defeated in many matched during 1970s in-spite of many big talented names in the team. One change was only that we were become self-reliant,” the premier mentioned. PM Khan said there is no respect of the one who keeps asking others for money. Slamming the elite class, he said the elites have discarded the country at international level for their own vested interest. He elaborated that Bangladesh has become more develop as compare to Pakistan.
