PM visits flood-hit areas; directs shifting of flood affectees to safer places

RAHIM YAR KHAN (92 News) – Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Friday paid visits to different flood-affected areas of the district, while directing the Punjab government to continue the process of shifting of flood affectees to safer places. Presiding over a meeting at Chachran Sharif after visiting the flood affected areas on Friday, he said that the government stands with the affected families in difficult times. He issued directives to use more boats and helicopters can be used in case of emergency and during relief and rescue operation. He expressed satisfaction over the steps taken by administration for the relief and rescue work carried out in the flood affected areas so far. Rahim Yar Khan DCO briefed him about the losses caused by floods and about rescue and relief operation being carried out there, before the PM took an aerial view of the sixty six villages were submerged in the flood. "Standing crops on 41,396 acres of land have also been affected while 34,715 have been shifted to safer places so far," the DCO told the PM.
