ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Prime Minister Imran Khan will chair the first meeting of the National Development Council (NDC) on Thursday (today) at the PM Secretariat to review the current economic situation in Pakistan. Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa will participate in the NDC meeting as a member along with Azad Jammu Kashmir (AJK) Prime Minister Farooq Haider and the Gilgit Baltistan chief minister. Adviser to Prime Minister on Finance Abdul Hafeez Shaikh, Federal Minister for Planning Khusru Bakhtiyar, Adviser to Prime Minister on Commerce Abdul Razak Dawood, chief of minister of four provinces, AJK Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider and Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister Hafiz Hafeezur Rehma will attend the meeting. The meeting will review the economic situation in the country. It will be briefed on the steps for the revival of economy. The forum will also discuss several ongoing projects. On June 13, the federal government had formed the National Development Council (NDC). Prime Minister Imran Khan heads the 13-member council. Earlier a day, PM Imran Khan chaired a meeting of the National Security Committee (NSC) at Prime Minister’s Office. The committee discussed situation arising out of unilateral and illegal actions by the Indian government as well as situation inside Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and along the Line of Control (LOC). According to the declaration announced after the National Security Committee, Prime Minister Imran Khan directed the armed forces to continue vigilence. The forum also decided to observe August 15 as black day. The committee decided to downgrade diplomatic relations with India, suspend bilateral trade with India, review bilateral arrangements, take the matter to the United Nations, including the Security Council and observe 14th of August in solidarity with brave Kashmiris. The meeting was attended by Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Defence Minister Pervaiz Khattak, Interior Minister, Minister for Education, Minister for Human Rights, Minister for KA&GB, Law Minister, Adviser Finance, CJCSC, COAS, CAS, CNS, SAPM on Information, DG-ISI, DG-ISPR, Secretary Foreign Affairs and other senior officers.
