PM will pay first visit to Iran on April 21
ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan will pay a two-day official first visit to Iran on April 21-22 (Sunday).
According to statement of Foreign Office (FO), the prime minister is going to the neighbouring country on the invitation of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani to bolster bilateral ties. The visit will include a brief stop-over in Mashhad before arriving in Tehran for bilateral talks with the Iranian leadership.
The statement also informed that the premier will call on Iranian Supreme Leader Seyed Ali Khamenei, besides holding detailed consultations with President Rouhani.
PM Khan will be accompanied by a high level delegation including ministers for finance, human rights, maritime affairs, inter-provincial coordination, adviser on commerce, task force on energy and special assistant on overseas Pakistanis and human resources besides several senior officials.
Imran Khan will also meet members of the Iranian and Pakistani business community in Iran.
The statement stated that Pakistan’s relations with Iran are marked by close historic and cultural linkages and strong people to people exchanges. Both the countries are also members of the Economic Cooperation Organization and Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
PM, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani discuss regional situation
Earlier, Prime Minister Imran Khan phoned Iranian President Hassan Rouhani to discuss the regional and international situation.
They discussed different matters, including Pak-India tension. During the telephonic conversation, Prime Minister Imran Khan appreciated the principled stance of Iran for the people of the Occupied Kashmir. He also expressed sorrow and grief over the murder of 27 soldiers.
The prime minister also agreed to visit Iran soon. A suicide bomber killed 27 members of Iran’s elite Revolutionary Guards in mid-February in a southeastern region where security forces are facing a rise in attacks by militants.
