ISLAMABAD (92 News) - Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has written a letter to Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial and sought formation of a commission comprising of Supreme Court judges to probe the murder of senior journalist Arshad Sharif.

In the letter, he demanded that a judicial commission should be formed to know the facts of the murder. "The commission could especially focus on five questions. What method was adopted by Arshad Sharif to go abroad in August? Who facilitated his departure abroad? Whether a provincial or federal institution was aware of the threat to Arshad Sharif? What precautionary measures were adopted if there was a threat to his life? Under which circumstances Arshad Sharif went to Kenya from UAE? Whether his death is an outcome of mistaken identity or criminal game?" the letter queried.

The prime minister, in the letter, stated that the formation of the commission is mandatory for the rule of law. "The federal government will extend all-out cooperation for the dispensation of the duty," it added.

He said that the government had sent a team of experienced officers to Kenya after the tragic incident.

The prime minister said that it was mandatory to form a commission of the Supreme Court for the restoration of people's confidence.
