ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Special Assistant on Information Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan has said that the activists of Pakistan Muslim league-N (PML-N) turned the lawyers protest into violent. Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, the special assistant reiterated that the footprints of Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) incident lead to political a party, adding that the activists of the PML-N turned the lawyers protest into violent. Firdous Ashiq Awan maintained that Prime mInister Imran Khan believes in rule of law and supremacy of constitution. “Whether PM’s nephew or someone else who involved in PIC incident will be dealt with iron hands. Dr Firdous said that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) led government will ensure impartial and transparent accountability process in Pakistan. She also said that the government is committed to bring back looted money from abroad. She assured that they will not compromise on ongoing accountability process in the country at any cost. She said that they will bring change in the country by recovering money looted from the national exchequer and by ensuring even-handed and transparent accountability. Criticizing the PML-N government, Dr Firdous said that the past government had put an addition burden of Rs4.5bn on domestic consumers via LNG contract. She urged the parliament to play its due role for the welfare of the common man.
Lahore CCPO vows to take action against hooligans
Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Zulfiqar Hameed has said that action will be taken against the people involved in hooliganism at Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) as per law. Talking to the media outside the PIC on Thursday, he said that some lawyers had worsened the situation due to the bar election. “The police have been deployed at all important places. It was inappropriate to use the power,” he said. The Lahore CCPO said that the police had twice pushed the lawyers out of the PIC. “The case of the incident has been registered and arrests are being made. Action will be taken against the responsible people according to law,” he said. He said that no one is above the law. “Negotiations were arranged between lawyers and doctors on Tuesday night. Doctors had agreed to apologize and the lawyers also agreed to resolve the matter,” he said. CCPO Zulfiqar Hameed said that the police had handled the matter amicably. “The incident was not planned. The police continued to stop the lawyers. We could not take any step before the incident,” he added. He said that footages have been obtained from all sources and the accused were being identified through the footages. On the other hand, doctors and lawyers went on strike across the province over the PIC incident today. Doctors are observing the strike in Lahore, Islamabad, Faisalabad, Multan and several other cities. On the other hand, the lawyers are also observing the strike against the arrest of their colleagues across the province.
The Islamabad High Court Bar Association (IHCBA) and lawyers from Balochistan have also joined the strike.
