PML-N demands to make parliamentary body on NAB chairman’s interview

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Pakistan Muslim league-N (PML-N) leader Shahid Khaqan Abbasi demanded on Friday that a parliamentary commission be set up to probe into allegations against NAB Chairman Justice (r) Javed Iqbal. Addressing a press conference alongside PML-N leaders Murtaza Javed Abbasi, Mohsin Ranjha and Abbas Afridi, he said a parliamentary body be set up under the rule 244(B) of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the National Assembly, 2007 to investigate this issue of national importance. “It seems the NAB chairman is being blackmailed and we want to reveal the truth before the public,” he said.
PM behind video against NAB chairman
Khaqan Abbasi has held Prime Minister Imran Khan responsible for the video against Justice (rtd) Javed Iqbal. “We have reservations about NAB from day one,” Abbasi said. “We want Parliament to look into accusations levelled against the NAB chairman, for which a committee should be constituted,” he added.
Javed Iqbal is under a lot of pressure
He quoted the bureau’s chairman as saying that he Javed Iqbal is under a lot of pressure. Recent incidents prove that this pressure is linked with the Prime Minister House, he opined. It is pertinent to mention here that the PML-N leaders’ press conference held on a controversy surrounding a video clip aired by a private news channel showing a purported conversation of the NAB chairman with an woman. Meanwhile, PML-N president Shehbaz Sharif said that his party will stay out of the recent NAB chairman issue. “Our viewpoint about the NAB is principled – which is legal in nature and we will keep voicing our concerns on all forums.” He said that the PML-N had nothing to do with anybody’s private life and will stick to its political and legal narrative.
NAB terms news about Chairman as fake, baseless
Earlier today, the corruption watchdog body has termed the news about Chairman Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal as fake, fabricated and baseless. The NAB spokesperson said that the objective of the news is to damage credibility of NAB Chairman Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal. “Ignoring pressure and blackmailing, the NAB had arrested two members of a blackmailer group and approved a reference against them,” he declared.
