ISLAMABAD (92 News) – PML-N leader Ahsan Iqbal has termed the government a threat to the economy. Addressing a press conference on Monday, he said that the country was defamed after publishing a fabricated story in a UK paper. “PM Imran Khan made a speech in the US like the leader of an NGO or the speech he made at D Chowk,” he said. The PML-N leader said that Imran Khan had been imposed on the country. “The government should think about the bread of the poor instead the TV of Nawaz Sharif in jail,” he said. He said that about 400,000 people have been left jobless after the agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and about one million people would go below the poverty line. “We will not allow anyone to usurp the basic rights of anyone. We will not compromise on supremacy of the constitution,” he said. Ahsan Iqbal said that the PML-N government had resolved the problems of the masses. “Former PM Shahid Khaqan Abbasi overcame the gas shortage in four years and saved millions dollars of the national economy. He does not face the charge of financial misappropriation,” he said. The PML-N leader said that Shahid Khaqan Abbasi had installed the cheapest LNG plant and the project was the most transparent one.

Earlier, former interior minister and Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) Secretary General Ahsan Iqbal on Saturday termed that the incompetent and non-serious government has posed a threat to national security. Speaking to the journalists, the PML-N leader said that the prime minister has ‘surrendered’ Pakistan’s economic autonomy, while referring to the government’s deal with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) that it would unfold devastating consequences for the poor. The PML-N secretary general also maintained that the middle-men will become poorer after the budget. “The policies have just started to reveal ordeal of inflation, and the upcoming budget will bring about a tsunami of inflation,” he said. Ahsan Iqbal mentioned that within ten months only, the burden of debt has increased by Rs3 trillion due to devaluation. He further said now every Pakistani citizen owe an additional debt of Rs16,000. He maintained that within the last ten months, every citizen has become poorer by 30 per cent, and the worth of Pakistan’s economy has reduced from the previous $315 billion to $260 billion. Regarding unemployment in the country, he said more than 10 million people have become unemployed within the same period of time.
