PML-N, MQM decide to contest general elections jointly

LAHORE (92 News) - The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) on Tuesday decided to contest the next general elections jointly.

The decision was announced after a long meeting between the MQM delegation and the PML-N. Both parties discussed the matter pertaining to election alliance, seat adjustment, grand reconciliatory dialogue and economic policy.

Both parties agreed to jointly advance in the national politics, including Sindh. They agreed to adopt a joint strategy to bring the people of Pakistan out of the current problems and to put Pakistan back on the path of development.

The two parties also decided to set up a six-member committee to prepare a comprehensive charter to address the problems of Sindh province, especially its urban areas. The committee will present the final proposals for cooperation between the two parties to the leadership within 10 days.

Talking to the media after the meeting, PML-N leader Khawaja Saad Rafique said that they had held preliminary talks. "A six-member committee will be formed to discuss legal and constitutional matters," he added.

MQM leader Farooq Sattar said that the country was facing different challenges, including political and economic crises. "We will have to jointly advance with national consensus. We will not only contest the elections jointly but also fight against the challenges jointly in the new government," he added.

Mustafa Kamal termed Nawaz Sharif the senior most politicians of the region. "We have not formed the electoral alliance for the ministries, but solving the problems of the masses. We will return back to the position of 2013," he added.
