ISLAMABAD (92 News) - The Islamabad High Court acquitted PML-N Quaid Nawaz Sharif in the Al-Azizia reference on Tuesday.

Chief Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Mian Gull Hassan Aurangzeb announced the reserved verdict on the appeals filed by Nawaz Sharif against his conviction. The court had reserved the verdict after the completion of the arguments of the NAB.

The court declared the judgement of the accountability court as 'null and void'.

The chief justice remarked that a man cannot be sentenced on the basis of assumptions. "All documents shown in court were photo copies, which cannot be presented as evidence," he ruled. The NAB prosecutor, in his arguments, stated that their case was on the basis of the analysis of Wajid Zia. "Wajid Zia analyzed that Nawaz Sharif is the real owner," he contended.

After the verdict, Nawaz Sharif's disqualification on the basis of his conviction has also come to an end. The court had disqualified Nawaz Sharif for 10 years.

After the verdict, the PML-N workers and leaders chanted slogans of 'Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif' and distributed sweets.
