MUZAFFARABAD (92 News) – Masood Khan of the PML-N has been elected the president of Azad Jammu and Kashmir. The former ambassador got 42 votes, while Latif Akbar of the PPP took six votes. The Muslim Conference and the PTI boycotted the election. Khalid Ibrahim of the Jammu and Kashmir People’s Party, an ally party of the N-League, was angered by the election of Masood Khan. The newly-elected AJK President Masood Khan has vowed to utilize all his abilities for highlighting Kashmir cause and for the progress and prosperity of Azad Jammu and Kashmir. Addressing a news conference along with AJK Prime Minster Raja Farooq Haider Khan, he said a comprehensive policy would be formulated for highlighting Kashmir cause in its true perspective at the International forum. He expressed serious concern over the Indian brutalities on innocent people in Occupied Kashmir and expressed hope they will soon see dawn of freedom. AJK President Masood Khan lauded Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for taking keen interest in the resolution of Kashmir issue and economic prosperity of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
