ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) senior leader Rana Tanveer on Thursday has been appointed as chairman of Public Accounts Committee (PAC) on Thursday. It is pertinent to mention here that Rana Tanveer appointed unopposed PAC chairman after the resignation of Opposition Leader in National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif. During the meeting, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Member of National Assembly (MNA) Sardar Nasrullah Khan Dreshak suggested the name of Rana Tanveer for the post of committee chairman. Meanwhile, PTI’s Amir Dogar and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Raja Pervez Ashraf also supported Tanveer’s name. To the decision, the PML-N leader thanked the participants for believing in him and said that reforms are required in PAC to improve its performance. The sub-committees of PAC didn’t work as per expectations, he added. On november 20, NA Speaker Asad Qaisar has accepted Shehbaz Sharif’s resignation as chairman of the PAC. The National Assembly Secretariat has issued a notification in this regard. According to the notification, the resignation will be applicable from November 20, 2019. Opposition Leader in National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif was the PAC chairman, but the party decided to hand over the post to another member. The party wants to push active and vocal members to the front. Shehbaz Sharif is also a nominated suspect in the Ashiana Housing scandal and Ramazan Sugar mills cases. He is facing the corruption reference in the Lahore accountability court. Now, the opposition leader is present in the London for inquiring health of his granddaughter and his medical check-up.
