PM’s Malaysian visit will help transform friendly relations into strategic: FM

KUALA LUMPUR (92 News) – Foreign Minister (FM) Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said that Prime Minister’s Malaysian visit is successful and it will help transform friendly relationships into strategic ones. In a statement, the foreign minister said that Pakistan and Malasiya have signed three agreements. He said that during the meeting of both the prime ministers have discussed ways to convert the close bilateral ties into bilateral economic strategic partnership. FM Qureshi mentioned that the two sides have exchanged views to enhance bilateral cooperation in various sectors, including trade, investment, tourism, engineering, and defence.
Social protection agreement for Pakistani labor class
Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that the two countries have also signed three agreements during the premier’s ongoing visit to Malaysia. “The agreements include extradition treaty for extradition of criminals and fugitives between the two countries and social protection agreement to provide social reliefs to the Pakistani labor class in Malaysia,” he explained. The minister said Pakistan’s remittances from Malaysia increased by thirty-five per cent during 2018-19 and about 1.55 billion dollars are being transferred to Pakistan.
Pakistan doesn’t want to divide Muslim Ummah
He further said the two sides also exchanged views about the recently held Kuala Lumpur Summit and the prime minister emphasized that Pakistan does not want to divide the Muslim Ummah but rather wants promotion of economic cooperation among the Muslim countries. Earlier, PM Imran Khan expressed his commitment that Pakistan and Malaysia both will work together to address the challenges facing by the Muslim Ummah. Addressing a joint news conference along with the Malaysian counterpart Mahathir Mohamad, the prime minister said that impression of division between Muslim Ummah from Kuala Lumpur Summit is completely wrong. He thanked Mahathir Mohamad for the standing by Pakistan on Kashmir issue and speaking against the injustices being perpetrated by Indian forces in Indian Occupied Kashmir (IoK).
