PM’s vision to make Pakistan drug free: Shehryar Afridi

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – State Minister for Interior Shehryar Khan Afridi said on Sunday that the anti-narcotics campaign has been started across Pakistan under the “Prime Minister’s vision to make a drug free Pakistan”. In a statement refuting the news alluded to him, the minister said elements who are being nabbed for drug related crimes are trying to malign him by propaganda. He also said that Imran Khan is completely supporting against the anti-narcotics campaign. Shehryar Afridi clarified that he has no links with the people taking snapshots with him and being a political worker he cannot refuse people from taking photos. Earlier, the state minister said that action will be taken against anyone caught with drugs. He also said his father married thrice and that he is from a big family. To a question about relation with Talal Nadir Afridi – who was arrested on drug charges on December 11 – was his nephew, Afridi said whoever he is, the action would be taken against him according to the law. It is pertinent to mention here that Talal was arrested along with three other young men on December 11 in Attock for possessing 507 grammes of hashish. The police flagged the young men’s car down but they refused to stop and, after a chase, they were caught. The police found the drugs in the car and registered an FIR against them. Shehryar Afridi for interior has revealed that the drugs are being sold in top lists educational institutions and large amount of students used drugs in Islamabad. Addressing a ceremony in police line about rights of children, the minister said that a survey has shown the 75 percent female students and 45 male students take crystal meth in the capital. The minister asserted that they are taking strict actions against the immoral videos. He mentioned that 64000 videos were recovered from Sargodha. He urged parents to keep a close watch on their children who have access to modern media gadgets and falling prey to these elements. Shehrayr Afridi categorically stated that strict action will continue against the drug mafia which is targeting our youth in educational institutions. He further said all the black sheep within the law enforcing institutions will also be taken to task for their collusion with the drug barons.
