LAHORE/RAWALPINDI/SARGODHA (92 News) – Police have detained at least 25 accused for selling dead animals meat and recovered hundreds of kilogrammes substandard meat. As per details, the Live Stock Department officials carried out a raid in Rawalpindi’s Arya Mohalla and confiscated 1600kg meat of dead animals. Police also apprehended three accused. According to Live Stock Department, the meat was brought to Rawalpindi from Mandi Bahauddin. Police have registered a case against the accused in Waris Khan police station. On the other hand, the Live Stock authorities conducted raids in Lahore’s Gujjarpura and Thokar Niaz Baig at an illegal slaughter house. The authorities nabbed at least 11 people and seized 450kg substandard meat. Meat expert Rahat Ali said that they have constituted pickets at the city’s routs to stop substandard meat. An expert doctor Irshad Ahmad Qureshi said that the substandard meat is bad for health, adding that the meat of cow, donkey or pig could only be verified through laboratory test. Meanwhile, Assistant Commissioner Sargodha Abdullah Khurram Niazi along with Health and Live Stock Department officials conducted a raid at slaughter house in Sargodha. The authorities seized 1600kg substandard meat and apprehended six people including contractor Sheikh Zahid, while cases were registered against five butchers for selling meat without doctor’s stamp.
