Police, opposition members' clash turns Balochistan Assembly into battlefield

QUETTA (92 News) – Ahead of the budget 2021-22 session of the province, Balochistan Assembly's premises turned into battlefield due to the severe clash between police and opposition members on Friday.

The situation worsened outside the assembly, when the clash of opposition members broke out with police before the budget session. The opposition members surrounded the assembly. The security forces managed to stop the angry mob after the workers of the opposition parties tried enter the assembly.

Heavy contingent of police was then called in to counter the tense situation. The law-enforcement agencies baton charged the mob to control the situation.

MPA Nasrullah Zira, Babu Amin Mengal and Maulvi Abdul Wahid Siddiqui were injured during the baton charge.

Police pushed the enraged members and workers and locked them. The gate of Balochistan Assembly was broken due to the collision of an armored police vehicle.

Angry members smashed the windows of the main entrance of the assembly, while several pots were also smashed.

As soon as Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal arrived, the commotion intensified. Angry members attacked Jam Kamal, threw bottles and threw shoes at the chief minister. Jam Kamal was taken to the House under security siege.

Opposition parties were protesting against the neglect of constituencies in the budget. They had staged a sit-in at the gate of the Balochistan Assembly to stop government members during the budget.
