ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Police broke up a Kissan Ittehad Council (KIC) rally held in the federal capital’s D-Chowk area on Friday to press for their demands and against government policies.

The police baton-charged and tear-gassed protesters as soon as the farmers gathered to voice their reservations about the policies of the government.

Police also used water cannon to disperse the agitating protesters.

The police and the protesters clashed at the occasion, injuring several farmers in the process.

The protesters blocked roads, causing distress to commuters who suffered prolonged jams.

The agitating farmers threw stones and pieces of marble against riot police.

The arrested farmers were shifted to different police stations.

Metro Bus service has been suspended due to the protest.

The farmers’ protest comes hours before Finance Minister Ishaq Dar presents the federal budget for the fiscal year 2017-18 in the National Assembly.
