ISLAMABAD (92 News) - Voters reached the polling stations for the Local Government elections in Islamabad, but the staff of the Election Commission was nowhere to be seen. PTI approached the Islamabad High Court (IHC) for contempt of court proceedings against the Election Commission.

The people of Islamabad have once again lost the right to elect local representatives. Early in the morning, a large number of voters reached outside the polling stations to cast their votes, but the polling stations were locked and there were no staff or election materials.

On this occasion, the voters openly criticized the Election Commission. Votes could not be cast in the polling station. Voters started self-polling outside the station.

PTI Central Secretary General Asad Umar attacked the government and the Election Commission for not voting.

PTI leader Ali Nawaz Awan also filed a contempt of court petition in the Islamabad High Court after the election was not held, while Jamaat-e-Islami has also indicated to file a contempt of court petition.
