Polling ended for vacant seats of local govt in KP, Sindh

KARACHI (92 News) – Polling on vacant seats of local government in districts across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Sindh ended at 4pm on Sunday. As per details, the voting for the by-election is being conducted for 65 seats in Sindh and 138 seats in KP. However, the polling started at 8am and ended at 4pm. Meanwhile, the counting process has been underway. There are four vacant seats in District West, eight in Malir, six in South, four in Central, and one each in East and Korangi. Some 540,960 people are expected to cast their votes. In this regard, 389 polling stations, with 1,352 polling booths, have been set up. In Hyderabad, by-polls are being held for three municipal seats, whereas in Bannu, there are five district and one councillor seats vacant. Polling in Bannu is set to continue till 4pm with no breaks in between. Strict security arrangement has been implemented in Bannu and Section 144 has been imposed. The seats were left vacant owing to various reasons, including candidates dying, getting disqualified or opting to go to the assemblies.
