PPP’s Sardar Muhammad Bakhsh wins NA-205 Ghotki by-poll

GHOTKI (92 News) – Sardar Muhammad Bukhsh Khan Maher of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) won the by-election of National Assembly constituency NA-205-Ghotki. According to unofficial and unverified result of all 299 polling stations, PPP’s Sardar Muhammad Bukhsh Khan Maher bagged 89,180 votes to win NA-205-Ghotki by-poll. Independent candidate Sardar Ahmed Ali, an independent candidate backed by the PTI, remained second by getting 72,499 votes. The National Assembly seat from Ghotki fell vacant after the death of federal minister for narcotics control Ali Mohammad Mahar on May 21 due to cardiac arrest. The polling started on Tuesday at 8am and ended at 5pm without any break. According to a press release, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) had established a control room in the ECP Secretariat to receive polling day complaints. The control room received polling day complaints from 8 am to 6 pm at ECP. According to ECP, Complaints could be registered on telephone No.051-9218527 and Fax No.051-9205300. According to ECP, 290 polling stations have been set up in the constituency for 360,875 registered voters who will exercise their right to vote during today’s polling. Earlier, the ECP had deferred by-election at NA-205-Ghotki from scheduled date of July 18 to 23 July. The ECP had delayed the election for five days due to a case challenging candidacy of Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) candidate Sardar Muhammad Bux Khan Mahar in Sindh High Court. The National Assembly seat from Ghotki fell vacant after the death of federal minister for narcotics control Ali Mohammad Mahar on May 21 due to cardiac arrest. Last month, Prime Minister Imran Khan had visited the Gohar Palace in Khangarh, Ghotki district, to offer condolences on the death of Ali Mohammad Mahar to his brothers.
