Polling underway in AJ&K Assembly Elections

MUZAFFARABAD (92 News) – Polling for the 10th general elections on 41 seats of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly is underway. The polling will continue without any break till 5pm, however voters present in the polling stations will be allowed to cast their vote even after expiry of the time. Special arrangements have been made by the authorities to conduct the elections in a free, fair and transparent manner. Strict security arrangements have been made as Pakistan Army 3600 personnel of Army, Rangers, Frontier Constabulary and Police have been deputed in and outside the polling stations to maintain law and order. Around 423 candidates of 26 political parties are contesting in the general election and more than 2.6 million voters of 29 constituencies of AJK and 12 reserved seats for refugees of Jammu Kashmir settled in Pakistan are exercising their right to franchise. Azad Jammu and Kashmir Chief Election Commissioner has visited the polling stations. On the other hand, Pakistan People’s Party’s (PPP) Chaudhry Abdul Majeed will be facing a tough challenge from Pakistan Tereek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) Barrister Sultan and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Chaudhry Muhammad Saeed, while Farooq Sikander will have a tough contest against Muhammad Naeem.
