Polling underway in NA-258 by-polls

KARACHI (92 News) – The polling for by-election in Sindh’s NA-258 Karachi is underway on Monday (today), which will continue till 5 pm without any break. The seat fell vacant after Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Abdul Hakeem Baloch had resigned from the party and joined Pakistan People’s Party (PPP). Eleven candidates of different political parties are contesting the elections. Around 408,163 registered voters, including 241,792 males and 166,821 females will exercise their right to vote in the constituency. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and independent candidate Taj Hanfi have already boycotted the elections. Security forces will be deployed in and outside the polling stations, while 67 polling stations have been declared sensitive. The provincial government has announced a public holiday today.
