Polling underway to elect first Islamabad mayor, deputy mayors

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Polling for the first-ever mayor and three deputy mayors of the Federal Capital is underway in Islamabad.

According to a spokesman of the Election Commission, the elections are being held through secret ballot and the polling will continue till 5pm without any break.

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has fielded Sheikh Ansar Aziz as its candidate for the office of mayor against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) Raja Khurram Nawaz.

The PML-N's nominees for Deputy Mayors are Chaudhry Riffat Javed, Syed Zeeshan Ali Naqvi and Muhammad Azam Khan, while the PTI candidates for Deputy Mayors are Fouzia Arshad, Raja Zulqarnain and Ali Nawaz Awan.
