Census to begin on March 15 next year, CCI decides

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Council of Common Interests (CCI) has on Friday decided to start the Population Census on the March 15, 2017. The meeting of the CCI was presided over by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in Islamabad. The meeting decided that the Population Census will be held in two phases and each phase will be carried out in all the provinces simultaneously. The CCI further agreed that Census will be conducted with the coordination of provincial governments. A committee comprising of secretary statistics and four chief secretaries will be formed to address all the implementation issues. The provincial chief ministers have attended the meeting which discussed matters pertaining to Population and Housing Census, FATA reforms, National Forest Policy and Import of LNG.
