KARACHI (92 News) – Minister for Maritime Affairs Ali Haider Zaidi has said that the port plays a role in 80% of Pakistan's revenue and exports.

Addressing a press  conference, he announced to move  the Supreme Court against the occupation of the Karachi Port Trust (KPT) lands. "It is said that there are more than 900 cases against KPT. There has been no audit since 2010. The situation is similar in Port Qasim."

Ali Zaidi described the PNSC as better than the KPT and Port Qasim. He said that the new bus service from Port Qasim to KPT would be started. "KU, NED and SMC will donate hybrid buses to the university," he added.

The minister also announced the construction of a bridge for heavy traffic. He said that the construction of the bridge would eliminate heavy traffic in the city. "We will also build five new vessels and three terminals at Port Qasim. Now the KPT, Port Qasim and PNSC will not take money from the government."

Ali Zaidi said that Port Qasim would be built as per  international standards. "Three new ships will also be purchased," he concluded.
