WASHINGTON (92 News) – Minister for Foreign Affairs said that there has been a positive change in Pak-US ties after the recent US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo’s visit to Pakistan. The foreign minister said while addressing to the journalists in Washington after completing an exhaustive 10-day visit to the United States. Shah Mehmood Qureshi flew out from the city Wednesday night to return to Pakistan. He said that bilateral engagements between Pakistan and the United states have also enhanced and improved. He said that the relations between Pakistan and the United States have witnessed a significant headway under the present government. After Pompeo’s visit to Islamabad last month, the foreign minister mentioned that Washington got the impression about Pakistan's civilian and military leadership is on same page. He added that the US officials were now issuing positive, not negative, statements. Before leaving for Islamabad, Qureshi thanked Pakistani Envoy to US Ali Jahangir Siddiqui and the staff at the Embassy in Washington for giving him a warm welcome and hosting him. He termed that the entire Pakistani team cooperated in making his tour to the US successful. The foreign minister spoke of his meetings with numerous important leaders and think tanks in the US, as well as the Pakistani diaspora. Shah Mahmood Qureshi said Pak-US ties should not be seen in the context of Afghanistan. He said any kind of development in Afghanistan is not possible sans Pakistan. The minister said he held various meetings with the world leaders, think-tanks and overseas Pakistanis during his visit to the United States and he effectively presented Pakistan's stance on host of issues. To a question, FM Qureshi said no meeting was scheduled between him and the International Monitory Fund during his visit. However, he said he apprised the World Bank leaders about Pakistan's stance on prevailing water crisis in the country.
