Poverty decreased due to tourism in KP: PM

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Prime Minister Imran Khan said on Wednesday that the poverty has decreased due to tourism in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). Addressing a  summit, the prime minister termed that large scale poverty has been decreased only due to tourism in the KP during the previous five years. PM Khan said Allah has bestowed us with diverse kind of mountain scenery from Suleman, Karakoram and Himalaya heights. He said these mountain ranges have their own diverse features abundant with great vegetation, wildlife and bird life, which have no match in any part of the world.
Elite prefers to visit Europe instead of country’s tourist spots
He has said Pakistan offers best sightseeing attractions in the world ranging from beach, mountain, and desert tourism. He also mentioned that Pakistan has virgin coastal belt in Balochistan, but it is unfortunate that our elite prefers to visit Europe and western countries instead of exploring our own tourist spots.
Tourism to increase foreign reserves & employment
The premier said that tourism will not only increase foreign reserves but will also bring employment in the country. He said that no other country has attractive beach sightseeing potential than Pakistan. The premier said that while the government’s role is to facilitate the tourists by giving them infrastructure and security – the private sector will be given the opportunity in the sector. Imran Khan said Gilgit-Baltistan had immense potential for going to places of interest and with the improved law and order there a large number of people have visited the area. He said there are dozens of beautiful areas in Pakistan like Nathia Galli, but they need to be developed.
Pakistani tourists need to be given awareness about scenic beauty
Imran Khan said Pakistani tourists need to be given awareness about the scenic beauty of the country. However, he cautioned that tourism must be promoted with responsibility, while taking care of the environment.
