Power outages continue during Sehar, Irfat; Govt claims exposed

LAHORE (92 News) – Despite tall claims by the government, power shortage continued to persist in several cities including Lahore during Sehr and Iftar timings on Friday (today). Various areas of Lahore, Karachi and Shujaabad remained in dark posing troubles to people during Sehar, Iftar and Taraveeh timings. Also, citizens in rural areas remained afflicted with power outages around Sehri time. Previously, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had directed the authorities to ensure the uninterrupted power supply during Sehri and Iftar timings. Acting on the premier’s directives, the Ministry of Water and Power issued a schedule for load-shedding for Ramazan, announcing uninterrupted supply during the times. The electricity shortfall has reached 5,000 megawatts in the country. Lesco authorities claimed that feeders of industrial units would be closed to ensure uninterrupted power supply during Sehar, Iftar and Taraveeh timings.
