Power tariff likely to be increased by Rs3.15

ISLAMABAD (92 News) - Central Power Purchasing Agency (CCPA) have submitted application to National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) for increasing power tariff by Rs3.15 per unit.

According to a press release, application has been submitted under the head of monthly fuel price adjustment.

The application states that 10 billion units electricity was produced in the month of March. The production price of electricity remained Rs94 billion. The most expensive electricity was produced from furnace oil of Rs22.52 per unit.

The electricity which was produced from LNG that costs Rs14.36 per unit. Electricity was imported from Iran that cost Rs17.35 per unit. Electricity was wasted Rs0.27 per unit on line losses.

NEPRA will conduct hearing on 27 April regarding increase in power tariff. If application got approved then consumers will have extra burden of Rs30 billion.
