PPP challenges LG Amendment Ordinance; LHC issues notices to Punjab govt

LAHORE (92 News) – Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has on Wednesday challenged the Local Government Amendment Ordinance in Lahore High Court.

The PPP’s provincial president Manzoor Wattoo submitted a petition in Lahore High Court (LHC) in which the petitioner’s lawyer Lateef Khsosa accused Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government of plan to rig District Council elections and the Local Government Amendment Ordinance passed in this regard.

He said that the Amendment Ordinance could not be passed after the announcement of election schedule.

The court issued notices to Punjab government for February 3.

Earlier, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) have on Monday challenged the Local Government Amendment Ordinance in Lahore High Court.
