KARACHI (92 News) – The Pakistan People's Party (PPP) has decided not to leave the election field open and make preparations for the Senate elections.

The decision was made during a meeting of the PPP Executive Committee chaired by party chairman Bilawal Bhutto and co-chairman Asif Zardari on Tuesday.

During the meeting, several members opposed the resignations.

Sources said that the PPP leaders were of the view that Nawaz Sharif should return to Pakistan and become part of the long march. "The issue of resignations can be discussed on the return of Nawaz Sharif," they opined.

The PPP leaders said that it would be a political suicide to leave the forum of parliament.

The PPP CEC proposed to launch a long march towards Islamabad. It also proposed to evolve consensus in the PDM over the Senate elections as boycott will have no benefit. The CEC members agreed to adavance the objectives of the PDM. They also decided to contact organizations of lawyers, traders and doctors with regard to the anti-government campaign.

Addressing the meeting, PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto said that they could have toppled the government in the budget because the PTI leaders and allies were angry with the government.

He said that they had formed the PDM and would run it as well with consensus. "All options will be utilized for the anti-government movement," he added.

PPP legal experts said that the government could abolish the democratic laws, including the 18th Amendment. "The PPP had got approved these laws after hectic efforts in the assembly. We cannot create hurdles in the Senate elections," he added.
