KARACHI (92 News) – The Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) government in Sindh on Sunday held the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) equally responsible for rise in the prices of petroleum products. Criticizing the MQM for not raising its voice against increase in the prices of petroleum products, Sindh PPP minister Saeed Ghani said that if the MQM-P has any objections on this decision, it should part away from the government. “When the PPP’s government increased the prices of petrol because it became expensive in the international market, the MQM threatened to leave our government four or five times because of the hike in price petroleum products,” Saeed Ghani maintianed. It is pertinent to mention here that on March 26, the federal government increased the petrol price by Rs25.58 per liter to just a little over Rs100. The price of high-speed diesel has been increased by Rs21.31. The prices of kerosene and light diesel oil have gone up by Rs23.50 and Rs17.84 respectively. A day earlier, MQM-P has condemned the increase in the prices of POL products. Reacting to the increase, MQM-P leader Kanwar Naveed said that the people already crushed by inflation cannot afford further price-hike. He said that his party rejected the budget. “The PPP government in Sindh is apathetic. After the coronavirus epidemic, we will invite the people to take to streets,” he added.
