PPP, MQM, Centre form committee for resolving Karachi's issues

KARACHI (92 News) – A committee on Sunday has been formed under the supervision of Chief Minister of Sindh (CM) Murad Ali Shah to resolve issues of entire province including Karachi. According to details, the team consisting three members each from both federation and provincial government will discuss strategies for the development of Karachi. On the occasion, Sindh government spokesperson Murtaza Wahab said that the problems of the province can only be overcome by joint efforts of federal and provincial authorities. Earlier, the parties have decided to work together for the development and well-being of the city. The meeting was attended by Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, Education Minister Saeed Ghani and Local Government Minister Nasir Hussain. Governor Imran Ismail and Karachi Mayor Wasim Akhtar were there. The agreement was reached during hours-long meeting of the three stakeholders. The three major political parties of Karachi met to discuss the city’s issues in two separate meetings that were held in Islamabad and Karachi. PPP, PTI and MQM-P have joined hands for the development of Karachi. Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, Local Government and Information Minister Nasir Hussain Shah, Education Minister Saeed Ghani, and Karachi Mayor Wasim Akhtar attended the meeting. Planning and Development Minister Asad Umar, and Maritime Affairs Minister Ali Zaidi were also in attendance. Issues of potable water shortage, rickety sewerage system, and public transport came under discussion. The participants discussed working out a joint strategy to clean Karachi’s stormwater drains, develop civic infrastructure and remove encroachments. The participants expressed concern over the city’s abysmal situation and agreed to work together for Karachi’s restoration to its former glory, economic progress, and resolution of all its problems.
