PPP offers Jamaat-e-Islami to jointly form local govt set-up in Karachi

KARACHI (92 News) - The Pakistan People's Party (PPP) has offered the Jamaat-e-Islami to jointly form the local government set-up in Karachi.

Talking to the media on Wednesday, Provincial Minister Saeed Ghani said the JI could not form the mayor by begging on TV. "It should sit with the PPP over the issue."

The minister asked the JI not to deteriorate the situation on the basis of some issues. "We can advance according to the law where it has objections. If the JI wants its mayor in Karachi, it is its right. Let's talk about the matter," he added.

Saeed Ghani said that his brother had won one seat and lost the other one. "Hafiz Naeem's word to get my brother win is irresponsible," he added.

He said that it is not appropriate to call the names of government officers and hold them hostage.

Murtaza Wahab said that Karachi needs progress, not sabotage. "There will be no service to Karachi by the politics of sit-ins," he added.
