PPP takes out protest rallies in several cities

KARACHI (92 News) – Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has on Sunday staged protest rallies in various cities and towns against government’s decision to hike prices of petroleum products. The rallies were taken out in several cities including Larkana, Kashmor, Umer Kot, Khairpur Nathan Shah, Charsadda, Benazirabad, Harnai, Okara, Vehari and Shikarpur. The participants carrying banners and placards inscribed with anti-government slogans. The protesters warned the government of ‘chaos’ if it does not immediately withdraw an increase in petroleum prices. The PPP leaders said that the rising prices of basic commodities and electricity load-shedding were failure of the ruling party’s policies. Earlier, Pakistan Peoples' Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had given a countrywide protest call against hike in petrol prices. Bilawal has criticized the government for burdening the people with wrong policies but the PPP would not let it continue any more. He has urged party workers to take to the streets against increase in petrol prices.
