KARACHI (92 News) - Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) candidate Miftah Ismail has claimed that the Pakistan Peoples' Party (PPP) wants to postpone NA-240 by-election due to the fear of defeat on Tuesday.

Miftah Ismail has written a letter to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) in which he expressed his reservations over the expected postponement of the NA-249 Karachi by-polls. In his letter to the chief election commissioner, he blamed the PPP for rigging in upcoming election.

Opposing the postponement of NA-249 by-elections, he stated that the ruling PPP has lost expectations of an electoral victory, whereas, promises are being made for launching development projects including water pipelines in the constituency.

In his letter, Miftah Ismail asked the election commission for the timely organisation of the by-elections. He has requested that polling be held on May 1 or 2.

On the other hand, PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz held consultations with party leaders regarding visit to Karachi. Maryam Nawaz is likely to leave for Karachi on April 24.
