Presence of Afghan refugees not a viable option: Sartaj Aziz

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Adviser to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz has on Pakistan has been hosting millions of Afghan refugees for the last 30 years but due to socio-economic and security challenges, Pakistan cannot further host refugees. He expressed these views during his meeting with UN High Commissioner for Refugees, Filippo Grandi, who called on him in Islamabad. The adviser said that given the socio-economic, development and environmental challenges, continued presence of Afghan refugees in Pakistan is not a viable option now. Aziz said that the security dimension necessitated more effective border management between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
