ISLAMABAD (92 News) - President Dr Arif Alvi and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have expressed profound grief over the death of senior anchorperson Arshad Sharif.
In their separate messages, they prayed for the departed soul.
President Arif Alvi said that Arshad Sharif's death is a great loss to journalism and Pakistan.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed his condolences over the death of Arshad Sharif, writing that journalists are deeply saddened by the news of the tragic death of Arshad Sharif. He also talked to the mother of Arshad Ashraf and expressed his sympathies with the bereaved family.
He assured her of full repatriation of his body and a complete investigation into the killing.
Meanwhile, PTI chairman Imran Khan visited the house of Arshad Sharif, met his mother and condoled his tragic death with his mother. In a tweet, he said: "Arshad Sharif's murder has sent shockwaves across Pakistan. It has highlighted an ongoing targeting of anyone who dares to criticise or question those holding power. When will our senior Judiciary act to ensure our citizens fundamental rights enshrined in the Constitution are protected.
"We saw a foreign abetted regime change conspiracy taking place sending Pak into chaos. But senior Judiciary continues to remain aloof. When will the Judiciary move to act against State institutions that are defying all laws & violating the Constitution? It is high time they did."
Punjab Governor Muhammad Balighur Rehman and Chief Minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi also expressed deep sorrow over the tragic death of renowned Journalist Arshad Sharif.
In their separate statements, they prayed for the departed soul and expressed heartfelt sympathy with the bereaved family.
