President Dr Arif Alvi dissolves National Assembly on advice of PM

ISLAMABAD (APP) - President Dr Arif Alvi on Wednesday signed the summary for dissolution of the National Assembly in terms of Article 58(1) of the Constitution of Pakistan, 1973.

The president signed the summary for the dissolution of NA in accordance with the advice of the Prime Minister, President Secretariat Press Wing said in a press release.

However, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will remain the prime minister till decision on the caretaker prime minister.

Meanwhile, the process to appoint the caretaker prime minister is underway. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Opposition Leader in the National Assembly will hold a meeting to decide the appointment of the caretaker prime minister. Each leader will give three names each for the slot.

Both sides will have to decide the final name within three days. The matter will be referred to the parliamentary committee if both sides fail to reach consensus.
