Joint session of Senate, NA postponed for an indefinite period

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The government has postponed the joint session of the Senate and the National Assembly for an indefinite period.

After a meeting with Prime Minister Imran Khan, National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaisar said that the government wants to give an opportunity to the opposition for the legislation with consensus. "Under instruction from the prime minister, I will contact the opposition. The government will soon summon the joint session," he added.

Federal Minister for Information Fawad Chaudhary said that the joint session had been postponed in consultation with the opposition.  He said that new dates would be announced later on. 

Earlier, President Dr Arif Alvi had summoned a joint session of the Senate and the National Assembly on November 11.

On the other hand, the opposition has made preparation for challenging the approval of 30 bills during the joint session. The government enjoys the support of 219, while the opposition has 221 members in the joints session.
