ISLAMABAD (92 News) – President Dr Arif Alvi has prayed for the quick recovery of former prime minister and Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) Nawaz Sharif. In a tweet, he assure that the government would ensure all medical facilities to Nawaz Sharif. “I pray for the quick recovery of Mr Nawaz Sharif. May Allah restore him to full health. I am sure the government will ensure all medical facilities,” the president tweeted. PM Imran Khan has said that political differences notwithstanding, his sincere prayers are with Nawaz Sharif for his health. He said that he had directed all concerned to ensure provision of the best possible healthcare and medical treatment to Nawaz Sharif. Earlier on Thursday, Nawaz Sharif’s condition showed improvement and doctors diagnosed him with acute acute immune thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP). His platelets count has increased to 20,000 from 7,000. A doctor, treating the former premier, said the treatment of ITP has been started after the diagnosis was confirmed and Nawaz will recover in a week’s time. He further said that the disorder is treatable in Pakistan and intravenous treatment has commenced. “He does not have aplastic anaemia and his haemoglobin and WBC count (white blood cells) are normal. Platelets are low though,” said the doctor, who is well aware of the former premier’s treatment and health issues. The doctor added that Nawaz’s bonemarrow is also functioning normally and is making blood as it should in addition to a normal level of reticulocytes.
