ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Minister for Railways Sheikh Rasheed has said that the previous government had spent all money on bridges and roads. Addressing a ceremony on Saturday, he said that the kitty becomes empty when someone talks about the poor. “The railway was neglected in the past and not a single penny was spent on it.” He expressed the hope that the railway would become the fastest growing institution. “The country will make progress through the railway,” he said. The minister announced Rs3,000 as Eidi for each labourer of the department. “As a result of the steps taken by the present government, the revenue of passenger trains witnessed an increase of Rs four billion as compared to the last year,” he said. Sheikh Rashid said that efforts were also being made to increase the number of freight trains. “An agreement has been signed with Pakistan Air Force for supply of oil,” he added.
Sheikh Rasheed says no option except to approach IMF
On April 13, Railways Minister Sheikh Rasheed had said that there is no option except to approach the International Monetary Fund (IMF) despite its tough conditions. Addressing the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), he said that economy cannot improve until political conditions are not favourable. “Thieves have manifesto of looting and then dispersing. They fall sick afterwards,” he said. The minister said that the society had overall gone corrupt. “Wealth, not modesty, has become the identity,” he said. He said that the prices of medicines are being raised from Karachi. “The gas price has been increased due to gas theft,” he added. Sheikh Rasheed said that he had asked Imran Khan to allow Nawaz Sharif and Asif Zardari to go. “Lest they die in jail and the government is held responsible for it,” he maintained. He said that everyone knew that the governments of Asif Zardari and Nawaz Sharif were corrupt.
Nawaz, Zardari filed cases against each other: Sheikh Rasheed
Federal Minister for Railways Sheikh Rasheed said on Friday that former president Asif Ali Zardari and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif filed cases against each other. Before leaving for Rawalpindi, talking to the journalists, Sheikh Rasheed said that all the cases against Nawaz Sharif were filed by Zardari while cases against Zardari were lodged during Nawaz Sharif’s tenure.
